Fremantle Wrap Up Community Camp

Fremantle Dockers wrapped up their two day AFL Community Camp on Tuesday after the players covering more than 1000km. In recognising that grassroots football and the community are the lifeblood of Australia’s Game, the 2016 Australia Post AFL Community Camps had a renewed focus on school visits while also undertaking AFL super clinics and training sessions in the community and for local coaches.

On Monday night at Fremantle Oval, Ross Lyon passed on some of his coaching knowledge to the community, taking South Fremantle’s Under 16 development squad for a training session while local community coaches had the opportunity of being boundary side with Ross listening to his words of wisdom. The session was a great initiative for the kids and the coaches, according to Tom Atkinson, District Operations Manager of the WAFC. Following the successful coaching seminar there were close to 100 community stakeholders attend the Fremantle Football Club Sportsmans night.

The Fremantle boys also got out to a number of schools throughout the Wheatbelt region and Metropolitan Perth, speaking to Primary and Secondary schools about the benefits of plays football for a healthy and happy lifestyle.
